As the Junges Staatstheater Berlin, the Theater an der Parkaue is one of the largest and most important theatres for young audiences in Germany. It is undergoing extensive refurbishment in three construction phases to meet fire safety regulations, modernise outdated stage technology, create contemporary working conditions and safeguard the building’s infrastructure.

The refurbishment and major repairs are taking place whilst the theatre remains open. In the third phase of construction, following demolition, the new Building 5 is currently being built: it is intended to house the theatre’s workshops, including a set and costume workshop, a lighting workshop and a smaller joinery and metalwork workshop.

For the new roof of House 5, 28 cm high Kielsteg elements with a span of 8.1 m are being used!
